I recently started my business after working 10 years at an international company where I held a variety of positions from system administrator to project management for implementing global applications. Due to the times and after several rounds of layoffs, my position was outsourced and eliminated.
After encouragement from former bosses, who all felt that I could do very well as a consultant for computer services, I decided to take their advice and start my own company, to specialize in home and small business computer services. And, as you can see from my resume, I have vast knowledge in this line of work.
Coming up with a company name
You may be wondering how I came up with the idea for my business name. I was talking to my hairstylist, Jacki who is a co-owner of Salon Glo, about starting up my business when she mentioned she was having issues with her laptop. She further stated she had someone else working on it who replaced the hard drive. When he gave it back, it wouldn’t even turn on. I told her I’d be happy to take a look at it.
The next day she brought it to work and I swung by and picked it up. Sure enough, it wouldn’t turn on. I took the battery out, plugged it into the AC and it turned on. Shut it down, put the battery back in and turned on just fine. It’s the little things like this that inexperienced computer tech’s do not know. To make things worse, this other tech, didn’t even backup her documents before replacing the hard drive and wouldn’t return her calls. That, in my opinion, is one of the worst things a computer tech could do.
Then I started thinking, New Day Consulting with such phrases as “It’s a new day having a reliable computer tech to solve your computer woes!” but then I searched… do you know how many New Day companies there are out there? Wow, a lot, we’ll just leave it at that. So I began scouring the web for anything along the lines of “new day”, during my search I came across parhelion…
Parhelion
The definition of Parhelion is a bright spot in the sky appearing on either side of the sun, formed by refraction of sunlight through ice crystals high in the earth’s atmosphere; also called Sun Dog. You can read more about it over at Wikipedia.
