While my 10 year career at Flextronics used only a proportion of my knowledge when it comes to HTML and PHP I still worked on sites, outside of work, as more of a hobby and have always enjoyed it. Web Hosting
Currently I own a server through Media Temple, I’ve tried out numerous host providers over the years and so far they have been the best performing and support. Web hosting details are listed below:
- Unlimited storage, while my server does have limited hard drive space I can always upgrade it to meet demands
- Unlimited bandwidth, same as above, I can always upgrade it to meet demands
- Unlimited email and FTP accounts
- SSL support using separate directories for SSL and non-SSL content or using single directory for both
- Supporting the following services: Apache ASP, SSI, PHP, CGI, Perl, Python and FastCGI
- Automatic backup either daily or weekly, depending on how often your site changes or how often you’d like it to be backed up
Website Applications
I am very knowledgeable with WordPress and phpBB, so those are the web applications I prefer to work with but am considering looking into others such as Joomla and Drupal. Below are some of the services I provide for setting up WordPress sites.
- Theme selection and customization to meet your needs and requirements
- Appropriate plugins to extend the functionality of your website
- Simple step-by-step instructions provided on adding or editing pages and posts (example document to be provided in the near future)
- Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for accessing the WordPress administration pages. This feature comes with hosting on my server, if not hosting on my server than it is dependent on what your host provider offers
- Additional security measures using htaccess files to only allow access to WordPress administration pages from your home and/or work place. It will prevent all access to the wp-config.php file which contains sensitive information (standard with hosting on my server, otherwise dependent on your host provider)
- Automatic database backup either daily or weekly, depending on how often your site changes or how often you’d like it to be backed up
- Encrypted WordPress cookies to prevent cookie hijacking
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to improve the volume or quality of traffic to your website from search engines natural search results
- Reports of site activity sent out monthly utilizing Google Analytics (no charge for this service)
Website Administration
Optional, but recommended, website administration to keep your WordPress installation and plugins up-to-date by utilizing a test environment to ensure updates do not interfere with the applications or site layout & content before updating the live site. Other general administration tasks such as making certain backups of the site files and database are being performed on a regular basis and are valid, reviewing log files for any suspicious activities, etc.

I can also provide Identity Packages including logo, business cards, letterhead, envelopes, etc.
